12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Eleven

Day 11: A Beautiful Poinsettia dressed for gifting with foil and a hand-tied bow.

Whew! We’re down to the wire, aren’t we? I know there are some of you out there that are in a tizzy about what to get that hard-to-buy-for person who still doesn’t have a gift. There is always one person who gives you a problem, isn’t there?

We still have lots of beautiful poinsettias, in several sizes and colors. It’s a tasteful choice of gift, and the recipient doesn’t have to decide what to do with it after the holidays. No worries about whether it will fit, either. We’ve gotcha covered! From $7.98.

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Ten

Day 10: A flag pole and a seasonal flag or two

We have a nice assortment of seasonal flags and flag poles and holders in two basic sizes. The standard-size flags look good displayed on a flag pole or a stand-alone holder in the yard. The garden-size flags are more versatile and can be moved around on their holders to accessorize a vignette or entryway. Why not buy them a Christmas flag and a Valentine’s Day or St Patrick’s Day flag to get them started on a collection?

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Nine

Day 9: A Fire Pit for the patio or deck

When it’s dreary and drizzly as it is this week, it’s hard to imaging sitting on a patio or deck on a cool summer or fall evening. But that time will come again. And what better addition to the scene than a fire pit? Just add wood and you’ve got a cozy scene out of House Beautiful! We have several styles to choose from, including the brass chiminea-style one shown here. Prices vary.

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Seven

Day 7: Garden Tools

Again, for the gardener on your list, we have garden tools, both hand tools and full-size tools like shovels. If you aren’t a gardener, you might think that would be a gift that wouldn’t be welcomed. But take it from me, a dyed-in-the-wool garden fanatic, a gardener would LOVE it! Prices vary.

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Five

Day 5: Seed Starting Supplies

Do you have someone on your list who wishes that he/she could be out in the garden? RIGHT NOW.

Give them a gift of hope for the next gardening season, and something to do when the winter begins to get to them and they just wish they could be OUTSIDE. An assortment of seed starting supplies, peat pots, soil and heat cables to use to start their own seeds inside in February or March when they just need to feel like they are doing SOMETHING for the garden. Prices Vary.

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Four

Day 4: A Beautiful basket of fruit.

Have you ever given (or received) one of our beautiful fruit baskets? They are as different from grocery store fruit baskets as a steak is from a burger. They aren’t shrink-wrapped, and they are full of top-size, beautiful fruit, nuts, candy and a sparkling beverage (what all is included depends on the price-point you choose) This one will create quite an  impression!  (Available this weekend and into Christmas week while they last.) $30, $35, $40 and $50.

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Three

Day 3: A Book for your favorite food gardener.

Growing your own food is an idea whose time has come… again! With the price of fresh fruit, herbs and veggies, and the news about food contamination, growing your own (or at least some of your own) makes good sense and good cents.

In our loft gift shop we have an assortment of gardening books geared for the food gardener. One of them might be just the right gift for the Foodie on your list!

12 Gifts of Christmas: Day Two

Day 2: A Willow Tree Angel or Figure.

Artist Susan Lordi hand carves each original Willow Tree® sculpture. Using family and friends as models, Susan tries to capture a moment in time, or express a feeling. Pieces are cast from her original carving, and then individually painted by hand. Softly washed colors, carved and metal accents, and representative icons of nature mark Susan’s work.

Willow Tree was introduced in January 2000. The line has grown to encompass those sentiments that we most want to express. To our friends, to our family, to our teachers; to those near and dear, to those far away.

The sculptures are rendered so as to suggest elegance, simplicity, peace and serenity. Forms reveal their expressions through body gestures only… a tilt of the head, placement of the hands, a turn of the body. Emotions are left to the viewer to discern, which makes them personal and powerful. Willow Tree is an understated line that speaks in a compelling way.

This is a line we are discontinuing, but we still have some pieces that might speak just the right sentiment and make just the right gift for someone on your list.

December 12th is National Poinsettia Day

We’ll bet you didn’t even know there was a National Poinsettia Day, did you? Check it out here.

We received our first delivery of poinsettias for last weekend, and we have a nice assortment of sizes and colors to choose from.  I read an interesting statistic recently. Did you know that  most poinsettias are purchased by women to decorate their homes at Christmas rather than as gifts? Stop in this week and pick one out!
