Bubbles

I came down today to check on the wine, and the air lock is bubbling away like a percolator!  With the concentrate I used the seal wasn’t right and I could never see the bubbles.  I think they made their way out of the fermenter by many routes. Let’s just say, mistakes were made…

(I think I just revealed my age– do young people today even know what a percolator sounds like? Or what it was for?)

We are in the midst of Indian Summer from the weatherman’s report, although I don’t know whether it will technically qualify.  I think it has to continue for 7 days to be a true Indian Summer. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Laying In Provisions For the Winter

I put down some blackberry wine today.  Bob picked the blackberries in July from a wild patch we have in the lower part of the property, and I froze them within minutes of the picking.  As fresh as they can be without actually being fresh.

It’s been many, many years since I made wine from fruit.  Lately I have made wine from concentrates only.  This will be a new/old experience.  I’ll let you know how it goes.
